Students Return from Spring Break on Monday, March 22.
We look forward to seeing our students on Monday. When they return, most of our Covid guidelines are still in place however, face coverings will be optional. Staff, students and visitors can make the choice to wear face coverings or not. We ask that you respect each person's individual choice regarding the wearing of face coverings.
We will continue to monitor Covid conditions and can re-instate the wearing of face coverings if needed. We encourage you to continue washing hands regularly, maintain distance when appropriate and do not send your child to school if they have symptoms.

Meridian Elementary School would like to recognize Mrs. Tami Wehmeyer, MES Secretary, and Mrs. Diana Davis, 2nd Grade Teacher, as Staff Members of the Month for February. This achievement recognizes them for being "Heart at Work" for their constant efforts to help make Meridian Elementary "Out of This World!" Help us congratulate these two ladies for their dedication to the students, staff, and families of Meridian ISD.
Upcoming Spring Break & the 2020-21 Calendar
Meridian ISD was granted approval of a missed school days waiver this morning by TEA. With approval of that waiver, students will not have to make up the time missed for the snow days in February.
Barring any other school closures, the approved 2020-21 MISD school calendar will remain the same.
A link to the calendar is found here:

Keeping MISD Staff Healthy, Part 2
Prior to Governor Abbott's announcement last week, which added school staff to the vaccination list, Nurse Amy had begun work with Goodall Witcher Hospital to provide Covid vaccines to any staff member wishing to receive them. Our first vaccination clinic was held on Monday, March 8. Nurse Amy is pictured here "taking one for the team". Special thanks to Goodall Witcher & Nurse Amy for providing this service!
Keeping MISD Staff Healthy
MISD staff recently had the opportunity to participate in several medical screenings at no cost to them. Eligible tests were bone density, AFIB and thyroid just to name a few. These tests were done on a Saturday so as not to disrupt the school day. Thank you to Texas Mobile Imaging and Nurse Amy for providing this service!!!

News for You
Elementary students were on the playground this morning and heard a firearm be discharged. Out of precaution, both campuses were locked and no students were allowed outside. Meridian PD was contacted and after an investigation, it was determined that someone in a nearby neighborhood had discharged a firearm.
I wanted you to be aware of what had happened.
Stay Safe and Stay well!
Mrs. Edwards
Due to last week's winter weather and the inability of our food delivery trucks to get to us, our cafeteria menu has changed.
Here are the adjustments:
Fish sandwich on Wednesday
Nachos on Thursday and
Pizza on Friday.
Additional items may need to be changed as we move through the week.
Thank you!
Mrs. Edwards
